STEPHENVILLE (January 25, 2017) — Enjoy what promises to be a night like no other this Friday, Jan. 27, when Tarleton State University’s wind and jazz ensembles and choirs and soloists celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary as a founding member of The Texas A&M University System.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $10 and go on sale at the box office one hour before show time.
The special evening of music and singing features original compositions by music faculty members Drs. Anthony Pursell and Troy Robertson, guest conductor Dr. Timothy Rhea, director of bands at Texas A&M University, and the Boston Brass.

• Centennial Colors, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee and composed by Dr. Anthony Pursell, featuring the Tarleton Wind Ensemble
• Irish Tune from County Derry by Percy Grainger, featuring the Tarleton Wind Ensemble and conducted by Dr. Timothy Rhea
• Bring Me Little Water, Silvey, arranged by Moira Smiley, featuring Tarleton’s Select Women’s Ensemble
• The Old Chisolm Trail, arranged by Norman Luboff, featuring Tarleton’s The Texan Gentlemen
• The Yellow Rose of Texas, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee and arranged by Dr. Troy Robertson, featuring the Tarleton Chamber Choir
• Centennial Horizon by Kevin McKee, featuring the Tarleton Wind Ensemble and Dr. Brian Walker, trumpet
• Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, arranged by Rick Stitzel, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee, featuring the Tarleton Jazz Ensemble I
• Give a Man a Horse He Can Ride by Michael Head, featuring Dr. Iwao Asakura, baritone, and accompanied on piano by Dr. Leslie Spotz
• Homeward Bound by George Meyer, featuring Dr. Heather Hawk, soprano, and accompanied on piano by Dr. Leslie Spotz
• Belonging by Dan Cavanagh, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee, featuring the Tarleton Jazz Ensemble I
• Step Aside, Please by Kris Berg, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee, featuring the Tarleton Jazz Ensemble I
• Cinematic Fantasy by Rick DeJong, featuring the Tarleton Wind Ensemble and the Boston Brass
• Centennial Color Song, commissioned by the Centennial Celebration Committee and composed by Drs. Troy Robertson and Anthony Pursell, featuring the Tarleton Wind Ensemble and Chamber Choir.
