STEPHENVILLE (February 1, 2017) — Dr. Ray Perryman, president and CEO of The Perryman Group, an economic research and analysis firm based in Waco, will discuss the economics of public higher education during Tarleton State University’s Planning Council Spring Forum set Wednesday, Feb. 22.
All Tarleton faculty and staff are invited to attend. A lunch buffet will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., with the program set to begin at 12:30 p.m. in the ballrooms of the Barry B. In addition to discussing the economics of higher education, Perryman will take a look at the impact that pending bills in the Texas Legislature have on the affordability of higher education as well as their potential long-term consequences.
A past president of the Southwestern Economic Association and the Southwestern Society of Economists, Perry has been honored by the Texas Legislature for his efforts to build a better Texas. He was selected 2012 Texan of the Year by the Texas Legislative Conference.
Perryman spent 10 years as Herman Brown Professor of Economics and five years as university professor and economist-in-residence at Baylor University as well as five years as business-economist-in-residence at Southern Methodist University. The author of several books and more than 400 academic papers, he earned his doctorate in economics from Rice University.
