Frederick Dayle Cox, Jr., 65, of Stephenville passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kory Koch, officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Temple. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Dayle was born on October 23, 1951 in Temple, Texas, to the late Frederick Dayle Cox, Sr. and Dixie Ruth Webster Cox. At the age of 10, Dayle’s , first ‘real’ job was delivering papers for the Temple Daily Telegram. He graduated from Temple High School and Tarleton State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He married Joan Elaine Warden Harris on June 6, 1992 in Stephenville. He worked as the Program Coordinator for the Fine Arts Department at Tarleton State University in the Clyde H Wells Fine Arts Center. He supported the arts in Stephenville as a member of the Ultra Club and the Ultra Club Big Band. Dayle lived several years in Paducah, and has been a longtime resident of Stephenville. He was an active member of Oakdale Methodist Church. Dayle was a ‘lifelong lover’ of music.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Elaine Cox of Stephenville; daughter, Miranda Dee Cox of Ft. Worth; stepson, Christopher Harris and wife Sarah, of Lewisville; sister, Cherie Wallace, of Belton, and many extended family in Temple, Texas and Colorado.

The Cox family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Kidney Foundation or the Ultra Club at Tarleton State University.
