Texans jump back into top 10

STEPHENVILLE (February 14, 2017) — Tarleton men’s basketball is back in the top 10 after climbing two spots to No. 9 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll.

The Texans (22-3, 13-2) are coming off a pair of home wins against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. The Texans have won a Lone Star Conference-best six straight games. The Texans hold a 2.5 game lead for first place in the LSC with three games to go.

This marks the 126th week the Texans have been ranked by the NABC in program history. The Texans have now been ranked in the top 10 75 times.

The Texans are the only ranked LSC team in the NABC poll. UT-Permian Basin fell out of the top 25 after being ranked No. 19 last week. The Falcons did receive 23 votes while West Texas A&M received one vote. Tarleton defeated then-No. 12 Western Washington in Las Vegas, who is now ranked No. 20. The Texans are 3-0 against ranked opponents this season.

Tarleton will travel to Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, February 16 at 7 p.m.
