Stephenville grad killed in head on collision on FM 1188

FLASH STAFF REPORT

ERATH COUNTY (February 25, 2017) – Sarah Jane Romans, 23 of Stephenville, was killed in a two-vehicle accident early Friday morning.

According to a report from Staff Sgt. Richard Hunter with the Texas DPS, Romans was driving southbound in a 2008 Chevy Colbalt on FM 1188 when the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and hit a 2015 Ford F-350 head on.

Multiple first responder units from Morgan Mill VFD, Erath County Fire Rescue, Erath County EMS, Cross Timbers First Responders and others were dispatched to the scene just after 7 a.m. on Friday and worked the accident with Texas DPS Troopers for several hours.

Erath County Justice of the Peace Shawness Bass was called to the scene and she pronounced Romans deceased. The other driver, Lacey K. Donegan, 27 of Bluff Dale, and a passenger were transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville with non life-threatening injuries.

Romans, who was known as Marriah to friends and family, was a Stephenville High School graduate (class of 2011) where she was involved in Stings, choir and many other extra-curricular activities. And according to her Facebook page, she was currently a teacher at Bright Beginnings PreSchool in Granbury.

Funeral services for Romans will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 27, at Fairview Baptist Church (located at 1062 Fairview Road, Mineral Wells) with Pastor John Tunnell officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, February 26, at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville.
