BURIAL: Oakwood Cemetery

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, at First United Methodist Church.

Robbie L. Ripley, age 89, of Comanche, Texas, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, in Early, Texas. She was born June 22, 1927, in Comanche County, Texas to Harvey and Artie Mae Hicks. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1945 and attended Business College in Fort Worth. She married Robert E. (Bob) Ripley on September 6, 1948, and they were married for over 68 years. Early in her married life, she was a professional seamstress, and after retirement, Robbie received numerous awards and blue ribbons at local and area quilt shows for her beautiful quilts. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper for the Dudley Brothers Ranches. She was baptized in Duncan Creek in Comanche County as a teenager and was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Comanche and was a member of the Burton Bible Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Artie Mae Hicks; brothers, Olan Hicks and Robert Lee Hicks; and sisters, Molene Easley, Marie Easley, and Nita Hicks. Survivors include: Husband, Robert E. (Bob) Ripley, of Comanche; daughter, Elaine Dickson and husband Jerry of Plano; sons, Terry Ripley of Comanche; and Ken Ripley and wife Geneva of Fort Stockton; grandchildren, Scott Dickson of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Ashley Liang and husband Frank of Plano; Jarratt Ripley and wife Erika of Waxahachie; Sarah Ripley of Bayfield, Colorado; John Ripley and wife Laura of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Madelyn Ripley of Fort Stockton; step-grandson J.D. Gamboa and wife Amaralee of San Antonio and Fort Stockton; great-grandchildren Allison Dickson-Bouchard and Jacob Liang of Plano; and step-great grandchild Alex Ruiz of Fort Stockton; sister, Jean Schultz of Houston; brother Jackie Hicks and wife Mary of Comanche; sisters-in-law Pauline Ripley and Francis Ripley, both of Comanche; brother-in-law, Eldon Ripley and wife Marina Jean, of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
