Norma Nell House

INTERMENT: Round Grove Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Wednesday at Harrell Funeral Home.

Norma Nell House was born December 6, 1928 to Phillip Eli Keith and Katie Mahan Keith at home in Highland, Texas. Billie Keith was her only brother. She attended the Highland schools and then finished her High School education at the Comyn High School. In 1946 she married Thurston Lee House for a marriage union of 59 years until Thurston passed away in 2005. To this union 2 sons, Garron Lee House and Phillip Edwin House were born.

Thurston and Norma Nell made their home and raised their family in the Highland community. She took care of her family in all circumstances that came up on the family farm. Sometimes she would be needed in the fields to plow or even to haul hay. Sometimes it was to wade into the middle of a feud between brothers with a stick that was always big enough for the occasion to straighten out that mess. She cooked thousands of meals, washed tens of thousands of dishes, and probable toms of clothes. In later life she spent many years in the care of her own elderly parents but Norma Nell took of her family.

Norma Nell was a lifelong member of the Highland Missionary Baptist Church. Norma Nell who was saved in the mid 1950’s was the piano player for the church for close to 70 years, stating once that that was the way she could use her talent in service at the Lord’s House. As the years passed and her talent diminished to some degree she said she wanted to keep playing as long as she could still be useful or tolerable. Her desire to do her work for the Lord stayed with her until the end with her last church service being on Wednesday night February 22, 2017, 10 days before her passing into eternity.

At the church, as we conduct the funeral service for Norma Nell House, the piano will remain silent, come Sunday morning another will fill the position at the piano as the Lord’s work will continue at this place.

She is survived by son, Garron Lee House and wife, Rhonda. Grandkids: Zachary Lee House and Marcie Lee House Couch. Great-grandkids: Henry Lee House, Stella Claire House, Ruby Eleanor House, Alice Josephine House and Jesse Lee Couch.

She is survived by son, Phillip Edwin House and wife, Bette. Grandkids: Mindi Lynn House, Nancy Nell house Morris and Richard Thurston House. Great-grandkids: Hannah House, Ricky Edwin House ( deceased), and Michah Morriss.
