(March 10, 2017) — Trevor Easter’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Stephenville to a 3-2 victory over Burkburnett in classic-style tournament play Friday morning at Henrietta.

It was the second win in three games at the event for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 9-2-1 on the season. They play twice Saturday – against Nocona at 9 a.m. and Graham at 11:15 a.m. – to wrap up their stay in Henrietta.

Easter’s hit plated Cody Storrs for the winning run, while the only other Stephenville RBI in the game came from Chase Carrilo. Caleb Smith was awarded the win on the mount, pitching the top of the seventh and successfully working around a hit and a walk to keep the game tied.

Kade Averhoff tossed six effective innings as the starter for Stephenville, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four.

A pinch-hit grand slam by Easton Jones fueled a 6-run fourth inning in a 9-5 win over host Henrietta Thursday. Mason Castleberry went 3.1 innings the hill to earn the win on the mound.

Derek Gifford had a hit, a walk and scored twice against Henrietta, while Caleb Gibbons had a hit, a walk and 2 RBI. Aaron Abila and Kade Averoff each drove in one run.

The Jackets also fell to Iowa Park, 3-0, on Thursday. Easter and Storrs had the only hits, while Jones pitched four innings, allowing two runs – three total – on five hits while striking out five.
