Stephenville soccer teams burn ‘Wood, plan bi-district matches

(March 11, 2017) — Both Stephenville soccer teams closed their regular seasons successfully Friday with road wins over rival Brownwood.

The 3-4A district runners up Honeybees won 2-0 with goals from Courtney Langley and Jimena Espinoza and another shutout by keeper Madison Wyly.

The Yellow Jackets, also runners up in 3-4A, won 3-0 with goals from Ivan Cabrera, Aaron Veloz and Logan Kurt.

The Jackets have their Region I-4A bi-district playoff match set for 5 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Bridgeport.

The Honeybees face Burkburnett in their Region I-4A bi-district match, but details were still being worked out Saturday morning, per Stephenville head coach Casey Weil. The Bees defeated Burkburnett earlier this season, 12-1.
