Sarah McGill, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Comanche, Texas. She was born October 7, 1923 in Fulbright, Texas to Steve and Myrtle Gray. Sarah graduated from Bogota High School in 1940 and attended Paris Junior College. In 1945, she married David Lee McGill (PawPaw).
Sarah and David Lee settled in Kermit, Texas, where they raised their family. She worked for many years in the Tax Assessor’s office in Kermit as Chief Deputy Tax Collector. Sarah loved to dance. It began in the 1940s on dates with David Lee (her handsome red-head) in Paris, Texas and continued until she was well into her 80s dancing to the music of the visiting bands at the assisted living center where she resided. She was a member of the Comanche National Bank Travel Club. Grandmother was a wonderful cook. We miss her chicken fried steak and chocolate pies (and her candy drawer!). Mama loved to travel and walk the track with her friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Sarah is survived by two children; daughter Glenda Albin and husband Billy of Comanche; and son Don McGill and wife Patti of Odessa. She was Grandmother to Lauri Albin, Jody Albin and wife Maggie, Lisa Pena and husband Michael, and Lacy Chappell and husband Tommy. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and eight great grandchildren by marriage. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband David Lee, her parents Steve and Myrtle Gray and her brother Troy Gray.
