George Young of Brownsville died at his home in Granbury on April 13, 2017.

George was born in northern Burma on September 15, 1922. He served in the British Army during World War II, battling the Japanese after their conquest of Burma. He was discharged from his services in August 1946.

He met the love of his life, the late Celina Young, married and started his family in Rangoon, Burma before moving to Brownsville in 1961. George spent 46 years in Brownsville as a mercantile businessman and entrepreneur, owning several operations in Brownsville including Trans Asiatic Enterprises and Multi Mini Storage.

George was a loving family man, who adored his wife and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed travelling the world, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his three children: Glenda Bratton and her husband Stan Bratton of Bedford, TX, Lloyd Young and his wife Twila Young of Brownsville, TX, and Leonard Young of Granbury, TX; four grandchildren: Justin Bratton, Kimberly Bratton Pace, Aimee Young and Keith Young; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends all around the world.

Memorial mass will be held at a later date.
