GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Oakwood Cemetery.

MEMORAL SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Comanche.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at First Baptist Church at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday.

MEMORIALS: If desired memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 407 N. Houston Street, Comanche, Texas 76442.

Floyd Martin Key, age 90, died on Monday, April 24, 2017, at his residence in Comanche, Texas.

He was born on September 14, 1926, in Megargel, Texas, to George Andrew and Margaret Estelle (Campbell) Key. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1944 until 1947. He trained for the invasion of Japan and was on a ship in the Sea of Japan when the atom bombs were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Japanese surrendered. Floyd served in the Philippines.

On December 30, 1948, he was united in marriage to Sarah Beth Mayes in Graham, Texas. They were married for sixty-eight years. He graduated from Texas A & M and received his Masters Degree from Tarleton State College. Floyd worked as an Assistant Agricultural Extension Agent in Brown County and moved to Bosque County where he served as Agricultural Extension Agent. In 1965 Floyd and Sarah moved to Comanche County where he served as an Agricultural Extension Agent. He loved his job, but his passion was farming and ranching. Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School from Nursery Age to All Ages, and for many years sang in the First Baptist Church Choir. He was a member of the Comanche Lions Club, worked with 4-H in Livestock shows and was an avid supporter of Texas A & M.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Beth Key of Comanche; children, John Key of Wichita Falls, Sally Hicks and husband John of Comanche, and Spencer Key and wife Debbie of Olney; grandchildren, Cameron Key, Mary Key, Andrew Key and wife Erica, Dawson Hicks, Drew Hicks and wife Kandace, Amanda Stover and husband Scott, Trevor Key and wife Rhiannon, and Julius Key. Great-Grandchildren, Claire Nelms, Kenzley Hicks and Aron Hicks, and Kennerly Stover; brothers, Edwin Key and wife Frances of Olney, and Clifton Key and wife JoAn of Olney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Key and brother, Dwight Key.
