ERATH COUNTY (August 3, 2017) – Texas Highway Patrol PIO Trooper Dub Gillam said two young men were injured in a single vehicle accident near the Rocky Point Church on FM 205 Sunday evening.

According to the report, just after 9 p.m. a black Chevrolet Impala SS was traveling at approximately 60 mph when it rolled. The vehicle was traveling west on 205 towards Stephenville when it left the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled back across the road and off the left side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected again and drove back across the road and back off the right side of the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll. The vehicle struck a tree which stopped it from rolling.

Once the vehicle stopped, the driver, who was later identified as Christian Castillo, 25 of Stephenville, jumped from the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

First responders were dispatched to the scene where they discovered a passenger, Miguel Cervantes, 25 of Stephenville, who was taken by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He was treated and released later to family.

Castillo’s family was notified of the accident and they later found him and took him to the hospital in Stephenville where he was treated and released.

Castillo was cited for No Valid Texas Driver License and Unsafe Speed by DPS, according to Gillam.

The crash is still under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol, Stephenville Office.
