STEPHENVILLE (August 9, 2017) – For the third straight season, Tarleton men’s basketball ranks in the top 15 in the nation in NCAA Division II attendance.
The Texans ranked 14th in the nation in home attendance with an average of 1,527 fans per contest for the 2016-17 season. The Texans, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth straight season, played 17 games in Wisdom Gym last year and had a total attendance of 25,965.
Tarleton had the highest average attendance for any team in the Lone Star Conference and South Central Region. With 815 fans per contest, the LSC had the fourth highest attendance average among NCAA Division II conferences. Northern State had the highest average for a school with 3,552 per game, and the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association led all conferences, averaging 1,307.
Tarleton is 158-16 in games played at Wisdom Gym the last decade, a win percentage of .908. The Texans have not lost more than twice at home in a season since 2007-08.
Tarleton’s attendance average ranks higher than 103 Division I schools and five Division I conferences.
