STEPHENVILLE (September 26, 2017) — Promoting the value of a variety of English and Spanish degrees, Tarleton State University celebrated English and Languages Week Sept. 11 through 15.

Each day during the week, guest speakers—alumni and area experts—shared advice for using English and languages to upgrade a university education, regardless of academic major.

“We try to get input from across campus to show that all majors and disciplines really value the skills learned in an English/languages class,” said event organizer Dr. Katrina Hinson. “Sometimes pairing an English/languages minor with a major in another discipline can afford more opportunities when entering the job market.”

The second annual event featured daily presentations from Tarleton alumni and faculty members from nursing, psychology, philosophy and engineering departments, along with educators and professionals from across the region.

“This year was a resounding success and the input of our alumni and the participation of faculty from across campus is what really made the event this year so successful,” Hinson said.
