GRAVESIDE SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 2, 2017, at Pendergrass Cemetery in Sidney.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Doris Mae Woods Ross passed away peacefully Sept. 30, 2017. She was born to R.D. and Mildred Beckham Woods. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Comanche.

Doris married the love of her life, Calvin Ross on June 27, 1942. For 44 years they lived in and around Sidney, Texas where they owned and operated a dairy. Doris enjoyed driving for Bayer Motor Co. with her close friend and companion Dale Russell for several years. She loved and lived life to its fullest. Doris wrote a poem that she repeated regularly to her family and friends entitled, Just Me: “I’m just me, not the worst or the best, I just want to be free. I just want to be exactly what you see….Just me.” And so she was!

Doris is survived by four loving children, Lorrie Shelton of Comanche, Texas; Brenda Henderson and husband Ronnie of Brownwood, Texas; Kay Hagood and husband Kenneth of Comanche Texas; and one son, Calvin Ross Jr. of Waco, Texas; grandchildren, Ross Scott and Jimmy Gilmore, Brent and wife Leann Hagood, Tami Edgar, Thad and Stephanie Scott, Nicholas and Stacy Hagood, Amy Shelton Rains, Justin and Maranda Shelton, Carlton Ross, and Caroline Ross; great grandchildren, David Gilmore, Madison and Austin Hagood, Ali and Emily Edgar, Timber and Cedar Scott, Jonathan and Luke Hagood, Kaeleigh and Khloe Rains, J.J., Miles, Anaya, and Lilly Shelton; sisters-in-laws, Laverne Woods and Wanda Curbo; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Ross Sr.; a grandson, Chad Shelton; a brother, Ralph Woods; and sisters, Wilma Davis and husband Bill, Ray Nell Blanton and husband James, and Yvonne Chandler and husband Dwight.
