ERATH COUNTY (October 10, 2017) – Monday, District Judge Jason Cashon sentenced Rickie Allen Osborn to 40 years in prison for possession of child pornography. Osborn, 53, pled guilty to Possession of Child Pornography, a second-degree felony carrying a range of punishment of 2 to 20 years in prison.

Because of Osborn’s criminal record, the punishment level was enhanced. District Attorney Alan Nash recommended a sentence of 40 years based on the defendant’s criminal history and plea of guilty.

In June 2016, Stephenville Police Department Detective Pete Goodman received information from the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding a local IP (Internet Protocol) address which had been identified as receiving and/or transmitting suspected images of child pornography. Detective Goodman identified the IP address as belonging to the residence of Osborn, and a search warrant was served on Osborn’s home. Computers and electronic devices were seized and the FBI performed forensic analysis, revealing images depicting children in lewd or sexual situations.

Osborn must reach the age of 93 in order to discharge the sentence imposed.

“A case like this is disturbing in that men like Osborn are lurking behind their closed doors fantasizing about bizarre, perverse, and exploitative activities. It takes good police work to identify such dangerous people and confront the risk they pose to our communities. “Thanks to the effective investigation of Detective Goodman and the timely reporting of the Crimes Against Children Task Force, I am confident this defendant will never again live in a community among children.”
