(November 13, 2017) — The Stephenville Texans won the 8U state championship on Saturday, while the Stephenville Tigers placed second in 10U competition and the Stephenville Ducks placed fourth in 12U.
That’s a whole lot of Stephenville – the City of Champions – being represented at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Flag football State Tournament in Burnet.
To win the state title, the Stephenville Texans first had to learn a valuable lesson – put that loss behind you and keep believing in the system and each other.

After going undefeated throughout the regular season, the Texans shrugged off their first loss in their second game of day one at the state tournament and bounced back to win five consecutive games, played back-to-back, to reach the final pairing.
The same team that defeated the Texans by four yards in a tie-breaker after a 19-19 tie stood waiting after navigating successfully through the winner’s bracket. But this time the Texans evened the score, then triumphed again in the winner-take-all rubber match for their tile.
