STEPHENVILLE (December 7, 2017) — Corinthian Ramsey found his shot, Josh Hawley doubled up again and Tarleton State (5-3, 2-1) shot a robust 55 percent from the field in a 85-59 thumping of weak Western New Mexico (2-7, 0-3) Thursday in Wisdom Gym.
All five Tarleton starters hit better than 50 percent of their shot attempts and the Texans shot 62 percent in the second half. After building a 48-28 lead by halftime then maintaining it, ,key players were afforded a few minutes more rest than typical. That is especially beneficial now that LSC games are on Thursdays and Saturdays as opposed to the past Wednesday-Saturday format.
Ramsey was 9-17 from the floor and scored 26. Only Hawley topped 30 minutes, and it was 32 instead of his usual 35 or more. He made use of the time by collecting 16 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals.

Deshawn Riddick scored 12 and Jaraan Lands 10 with both shooting 4-7. Riddick distributed a season-high eight assists, just one short of his career high.
Nosa Ebomwonyi was the fifth starter and was 2-3 with a total of six points while also contributing three steals and three assists. True freshmen Preston Enloe and Clashon Gaffney each played 13 minutes and each had six points while Gaffney added two blocks.
Western New Mexico did not have a double-digit scorer and shot only 36 percent.
The road through the LSC gets turbulent again this weekend as Tarleton welcomes Eastern Ne Mexico into Wisdom Gym at 4 p.m. following a 2 p.m. women’s contest.
Admission Saturday is free with the donation of a new, unwrapped toy, which Tarleton Athletics and Texan Club leaders will forward on to the Stephenville Optimist Club as part of the organization’s toy drive.
