(December 16, 2017) – No one can say Richmond Champion just won a $1.1 million at the inaugural The American and was set up for a nice life.

Because three years later, Champion has won a lot of rodeos, some even more prestigious, even if they don’t pay as much, as the RFD-TV made-for-TV event at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, in which he won $100,000 in the event and the $1 million bonus as the only challenger to beat all of the world’s top 10 in any event.

He will be here as one of the top 10 hoping to hold off such challengers in 2018 after a banner second NFR appearance to finish second in the average and second in he world. He won Calgary this this summer with its $100,000 payout just for the shootout alone. And he’s padded his coffers with more than $167K at the NFR, where he won Round 8, split the top two spots in Round  2 and ended up making the money seven times in 10 rounds.

Champion may have gave himself a  comfortable head start to on life after college at Tarleton State University, but he has proven to be much longer lasting than one great eight-second performance in a $1.2 billion stadium – he’s a true contender for the world title, finishing in 2017, at least, second only to one.
