On January 12, 2002, Kent married Rochelle (Butler), Together they created a blended family initially comprised of one son and two daughters. The years together grew their family as their beloved nephew came to live with them followed by two grandchildren. The family moved from Kingsland to Comanche in 2007, as both Kent and Rochelle were pursuing additional college degrees at Tarleton State University. Kent was employed at Comanche County Medical Center and Hamilton General Hospital until he was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure and began dialysis in 2014.
