(April 2, 2018) – Stephenville’s defense was stingy and the offense was clicking as the Honeybees blanked Lubbock Estacado to claim the Area Championship in a 6-0 game played at Abilene Wylie’s Bulldog Stadium.

The Honeybees got a hat-trick performance from both their forwards Gracie Bales and Ciara Johnston. Bales got two assists from Claire Choate to make it a 2-0 lead for Stephenville.

Haleigh set up the next score with an assist to get the ball into scoring range for a Johnston goal. Beatris Chavarria’s assist went to the feet of Gracie Bales who netted the ball for a 4-0 lead.

How stingy was the defense? Lubbock Estacado did not manage a shot on goal which made life pretty easy for goalkeepers Alyssa Northcutt and Madison Wyly.

Bales followed up the score with an assist to Johnston who scored the two remaining goals with second assist coming Beam.

Stephenville will now travel to Aledo for the next round of the playoffs against Mineral Wells Friday in a match set for 5 p.m.
