Ben Arthur Tidwell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Stephenville
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 24th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Holleman officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Ben was born on June 12, 1933 to Hoyt and Edna Tidwell in Stephenville. He graduated from Stephenville High School and the University of North Texas. On August 30, 1958 in married Patsy Ruth Herring at her parent’s home in Sap Oak. Patsy Ruth preceded him in death on January 28, 2016. Ben retired from a career of teaching and school administration in 1985. He taught in Bluff Dale, Morgan Mill, Granbury, Dublin and the Stephenville school systems.
Ben loved his family and friends and always led by example. He was always a source of guidance and support. He enjoyed living and taking care of his farm, and took a lot of pride in those things. He was an avid reader and always liked to learn new things. He was an avid reader, and always liked to learn new things.
Ben was a Baptist, and was a member of the Double N Cowboy church in Dublin. He was a lifelong resident of Erath County.
Ben is survived by his daughter Donna Willis and her fiancé Rick Bird of Stephenville; son, Lynn and wife Carolyn Tidwell of Dublin; grandsons, Kody Willis of San Francisco, CA, and Jake Tidwell of Turnersville; granddaughter, Lauren and husband Kade Schmidt of Reydon, OK; and great granddaughters, Emmy Schmidt and Cooper Tidwell; sister, Jean Youngblood of Stephenville; and a brother, Charles Tidwell of Granbury
The Tidwell family is thankful for the thoughts and prayers that have been offered up in the last few weeks. A huge thanks to the caregivers, neighbors, and friends.
