STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Athletics will have its second Texan Club Luncheon of the 2018-19 athletic year on Tuesday, September 11 at City Hall located next to The Agave Bar & Grill.
The event is set to begin at noon and lunch will be provided as well as door prizes at the end of the luncheon. Tarleton Athletics Hall of Famer and 12-year NFL veteran James Dearth will speak at the event.
Dearth played for the Texans from 1996-98 and was a two-time second-team All-American tight end in football and an All-American in the shot put for Track & Field. Dearth also received All-Lone Star Conference honors as was the LSC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Dearth was inducted into the LSC Hall of Honor in 2013.
Dearth was drafted in the sixth round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns but made his mark with the New York Jets, where he spent the next nine seasons as a long snapper and tight end. In addition to the Browns and Jets, Dearth also played for the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots.
For over 30 years, the Texan Club strives to continue Tarleton’s athletic success by providing financial support for the university’s athletic programs. The club is open to family, friends, alumni and others who recognize the importance of collegiate athletics.
