Josh Hawley has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his performance through the first four games.
Hawley has led Tarleton in both scoring and rebounding to open the season. Hawley is averaging a double-double through four games with 14.3 points and 11.8 rebounds to go with 1.5 blocks. While opening the season on the road in Missouri, Hawley had 12 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Missouri Western and followed with a career-high 22 points on 8-8 shooting (also 4-4 at the free throw line) and 13 rebounds in a win over William Jewell. In two games in the Texan Tip-Off Classic, Hawley averaged 11.5 points and 10 rebounds. He was named to the all-tournament team in both events.
It’s Hawley’s fourth career LSC Defensive Player of the Week award and first this season.
Hawley and the Texans return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
