(STEPHENVILLE) Grayson Traweek scored seven fourth-quarter points in helping lead the Stephenville Yellow Jackets to a 73-63 win over Dublin’s Lions last night in the battle of U.S. 377 basketball.

It was a game much closer than the score indicated as both teams exchanged blows over three-quarters of play and Dublin led 18-16 after the first quarter and 38-36 at the half. Stephenville opened the evening on fire running out to a 10-1 lead before Dublin was able to gain ground and actually win the first quarter.

The Lions were hot-handed early on too as Blake Porter burned the Jackets for 12 first-quarter points (game-high 24 points) and Jordan Mullin popping the net with four first-half three-pointers.

Stephenville kept it close with Traweek scoring ten first-half points and Chase Griffin adding eight in the second quarter alone. Mullin topped the Lions’ second-quarter scoring with a trio of three-pointers for nine points.

Stephenville slowly gained the momentum in the second half with a defense that forced the Lions to the outside where they suddenly went cold from long range. After five three-pointers in the first half, Dublin was only able to come up with one more on a fourth-quarter shot by Jacob Stanley.

The fourth quarter belonged to Stephenville with Traweek again taking control with seven points in the stanza and Calvin Darby adding four. Dublin was plagued by missed shots coming down the court on one possession and firing three long-range attempts that didn’t find the mark.

SCORING–Stephenville–Kaelan Dijilio 8, Kendal Storrs 6, Grayson Traweek 17, Landon Sweet 6, Cody Storrs 5, Skylar Stillwell 11, Calvin Darby 8, Chase Griffin 10. Dublin–Jordan Mullin 12, Jakob Seals 11, Jacob Stanley 9, Blake Porter 24, Angel Ramirez 7.
