Erath County Fire and Rescue responded to a fully-involved mobile home fire on County Road 493 about six miles outside Stephenville
around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The home’s fire damage was extensive with a good 30 percent of the structure’s walls and roof burned away. The fire that had crept into the home’s walls and ceiling frustrated efforts to completely extinguish the blaze as hotspots combined with wind kept popping up flames.

Firefighters were forced to pull away additional areas of the walls and dig into the home’s ceiling.
According to Fire Chief Chris Brooks, there were no reported injuries and the fire is currently under investigation. A family of five lived in the home which appeared to be a total loss.
