Track & Field wraps up final day at Texas Tech Open

LUBBOCK – Tarleton’s Track and Field teams finished up the final day of the Texas Tech Open Saturday with 12 top 10 finishes.

The top individual performer for Tarleton on Saturday was Freshman Nicholas Mosqueda. Mosqueda finished second overall in the 3,000-meters, running a time of 8:59.36. Kyle Doty finished fourth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 9:07.32.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay team that consisted of Jevon Wallace, Anterius Brown, Colton Troutman and Ikechi Iromuanya placed 10thoverall running a time of 3:20.31. The women’s 4×400-meter relay team, Kylee Ponder, Kamrynn Schiller, Jessica Ramirez and Lightsey Puryear, placed 13thwith a time of 4:01.00.

The Texans had six top 10 finishers in the distance races. Justin Botello led the Texans in the mile run, placing third overall with a time of 4:23.03. Quenten Lasseter placed seventh (4:28.29) and Jarred Elizondo finished in ninth (4:29.76). Brandon Reasoner placed 10thin the 800-meters, running a time of 1:54.49.

The TexAnns had four top 10 finishers in the distance races. Esmeralda Fuentes had the top finish, placing fifth in the mile run with a time of 5:21.48. Gretzel Jimenez placed seventh (5:23.06) and Ande Carlton finished in ninth (5:24.70). Imani Williams (5:28.43) and Gwyneth Garcia (5:35.26) had top 20 finishes placing 11thand 13th. Gwyneth Garcia placed seventh overall in the 3,000-meters, running a time of 11:25.90.

The Texans had two top 20 finishers in the high jump. Rascellis Williams place ninth with a jump of 6’5.5′ and Alan Palmer (6’1.5″) placed 19th. The TexAnns also had two top 20 finishers in the high jump. Freshman Gentrye Munden placed 15thclearing the height of 5’0.5″ and Emily Castleberry (5’0.5″) placed 18thoverall.

Rounding out the top 20 finishes for Tarleton was Jamel Anderson and the men’s second 4×400-meter relay. Anderson finished 19thin the 200-meters, running a time of 22.09. The men’s second 4×400-meter relay team consisted of Brandon McKissick, Brandon Reasoner, Skyler Sandusky and Malik Robinson placed 20thwith a time of 3:24.79.

Tarleton will head to Lubbock to compete in the Matador Qualifier hosted by Texas Tech on Friday, February 15.
