Texan Baseball looks to get back on track in road series at UAFS

THE GAMES
Interim head coach Brennan Rogers leads Tarleton Baseball back to his old stomping grounds as the Texans get set to square off against the Lions of Arkansas-Fort Smith in back-to-back doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. Both doubleheaders will begin at 1 p.m. each day.

CHANGE TO THE SCHEDULE
This series was originally scheduled to be a 1-2-1 series, but weather on Friday forced the change to back-to-back doubleheaders.

WEATHER FORECAST
The temperature in Fort Smith will range in the upper 40s to mid 50s with a 20-percent chance of rain. If it effects game play, updates will be posted as they become available on the @TarletonSports twitter account and Facebook pages.

ROGERS’ HOMECOMING
Tarleton Interim Head Coach Brennan Rogers played baseball for four seasons at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. Over his last two seasons, Rogers played in 96 games and hit .281 with 20 extra-base hits and 55 RBI. He was the 2015 Gold Glove winner at first base for the Heartland Conference and was a two-time conference honor roll award winner.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton dropped its fifth straight and suffered a sweep in the three-game series at St. Mary’s Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE SERIES: ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH
This will be the first-ever trip to Fort Smith, Arkansas for the Texans. Tarleton is 4-0 all-time against the Lions, all of which came in the 2017 season. The Texans defeated the Lions in the final game of the Houston Winter Invitational then welcomed the Lions to Stephenville for three games and won all three.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will welcome Colorado-Colorado Springs to town for the home opener next weekend. The 1-2-1 series will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday.
