STEPHENVILLE (February 18, 2019) – Tarleton State University police officers arrested a 29-year-old nonstudent and charged him with arson Friday after receiving a call concerning a family violence incident.
According to Tarleton State Police Chief Matt Welch, officers were called about an incident of family violence Friday and upon arrival found a fire had been started in the back seat of a female student’s car.

The fire was brought under control by passers-by and the car did not suffer extensive damage.
Tarleton State police arrested Maurice Barron Jefferson and charged him with one count each of assault causing bodily injury – family violence and arson.
Following his arrest was booked into the Erath County Jail where he still currently resides with bonds of $2,000 and $30,000.
