
AUSTIN – Tarleton Golf is in sixth place after the opening round of the St. Edward’s Women’s Invitational at the Onion Creek Country Club.
The TexAnns shot a 313 (+33) on the 5,810-yard, Par 70 course. Arkansas Tech is 12 strokes ahead of the TexAnns for first place, shooting a 301 (+21).
Casey Leatherman is tied for second place, leading the TexAnns with a 2-over-par 70 and is one stroke off the lead, held by Regina Gonzalez of St. Mary’s. Leatherman had a bogey-free front nine, recording her only birdie of the round on hole No. 1. The junior finished the round with 14 pars to lead the team. Leatherman led the field in Par 4 scoring, shooting even par (4.00) on the day.

Junie Khaw is tied for 27th after carding a 79 (+9). Khaw had one birdie and 10 pars in the round. Raelynn Hardgrave shot an 80 (+10) and is tied for 29th after the first round, recording one birdie and eight pars.
Sophie Caldon rounded out the Tarleton scorecard with an 82 (+12). Caldon logged one birdie and seven pars. Breanna Smith carded an 85 (+15) and had seven pars in the round.
Tarleton will resume the tournament with the final round on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
