Texans close out regular season at Western New Mexico, UTPB

THE GAMES
Tarleton men’s basketball closes out the regular season on the road at Western New Mexico and UT Permian Basin. The Texans face the Mustangs in Silver City, New Mexico on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 8:30 p.m. CST and the Falcons on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m.

THE BROADCAST
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans Byron Anderson will have the call for Tarleton basketball this season. ABOUT TARLETON
The Texans are 18-9 overall and in fifth at 8-8 in the LSC on the season. The Texans are averaging 74.4 points per game while holding teams to 67.6 points, which ranks second in the LSC. The Texans shoot 48.6 percent from the floor and 37.7 percent on 3-pointers. Tarleton has four players averaging double figures with Josh Hawley leading all players with 17.2 points. Corinthian Ramsey averages 12.1 points, Jesse Hill averages 10.3 points and Randall Broddie puts up 10 points a night. Hawley is second in the LSC in scoring and first in rebounds with 10.1 and has a conference-best 14 double-doubles in 27 games.

ABOUT WESTERN NEW MEXICO
Western New Mexico enters the weekend 5-18 overall and 2-14 in the Lone Star Conference under third-year head coach Matt Enriquez. The Mustangs are 1-8 at home on the year. WNMU averages 72 points on 42 percent shooting and allows 83.3 points. The Mustangs have two players averaging double figures in points, led by Jon-Reese Woodson with 12.3 points.

INSIDE THE SERIES: WNMU
Tarleton and Western New Mexico are meeting for only the eighth time since they first played in 1992. The Texans lead the series 7-1 and have won seven straight. The lone win for WNMU came in the opener of the series in 1992 in Silver City.

ABOUT UT PERMIAN BASIN
UT Permian Basin is 13-13 overall and 6-10 in the Lone Star Conference under first-year head coach Josh Newman. UTPB is 8-4 at home, but has lost two straight heading into the weekend. UTPB averages an LSC-best 85.5 points and gives up 81.3 per game. The Falcons are led by Jacob LeDoux’s 18 points per game.

INSIDE THE SERIES: UTPB
Tarleton and UT Permian Basin are meeting for the 13th time since first playing in 2006. The Texans lead the series 8-4. The Texans are 0-2 against the Falcons on the road.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will head to Frisco for the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament at the Comerica Center on March 7-10.
