Jackets now 8-0 after wins against Azle, FW North Side

Stephenville moved to 8-0 on the season Friday with wins over Azle and FW Northside behind strong pitching performances from Derek Gifford, Caleb Smith, and Kendal Storrs.
The Jackets’ bats have been on fire too with 21 hits in the two games and multiple RBI games for Trevor Easter and Gabe Moore.

Stephenville jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first inning and scored single runs in the 2nd, 4th and 6th to keep Azle at bay. Gifford gave the Jackets four solid inning of work as he struck two batters and threw 37 strikes in 67 pitches. The two runs scored by Azle were unearned.

Caleb Smith pitched three innings of relief and struck out three batters and did not allow a hit as he threw 19 strikes over 28 pitches.
Gage Graham and Gifford came up big at the plate with a triple each. Cody Storrs, Trevor Easter, Tyeler Reed, and Daniel Luna each had a double. Easter and C. Storrs had two hits each. Players driving in one RBI each included Reed, Moore, Gifford, and Graham.

The Jackets trailed 1-0 after two innings, but when the Stephenville bats lit up, there were explosive with five runs in the third inning and the mercy rule kicking in after an 8-run fourth inning.
K. Storrs gave the Jackets three innings of work on the mound as he threw 24 pitches for strikes and faced 13 batters. Storrs struck out two while allowing two hits. Trace Morrison pitched an inning of relief throwing ten strikes over 12 pitches.
Cade Dunavant, C. Storrs, Gifford, and Reed had two hits while Moore and Easter drove in two RBI. Stephenville had 13 hits as a team
