Tarleton ties for fifth at Midwestern State Invitational

WICHITA FALLS – Tarleton Women’s Golf tied for fifth place in the Midwestern State Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club.

The TexAnns shot a 640 (+64) at the Par 72, 5,893-yard tournament and tied with Texas A&M-Commerce. The TexAnns had rounds of 324 and 316 in the two-day tournament. Oklahoma Christian won the event with a 614 (+38).

For the tournament, the TexAnns had the second-most pars with 91, trailing only Oklahoma Christian with 97. They also had 10 birdies as a team.

Junie Khaw had the highest finish for the TexAnns, posting a 158 (+14) to tie for 13th place on the individual leaderboard. Khaw improved her score by two strokes on the final day and climbed four spots, carding rounds of 80 and 78. Overall, Khaw had 19 pars and three birdies. It’s the fifth top-20 finish for Khaw this season.

Casey Leatherman finished tied for 15th place with a 159 (+15). Leatherman had rounds of 79 and 80 to claim her fifth top-20 finish this year. Leatherman led the TexAnns with 20 pars in the two rounds and added three birdies.

Raelynn Hardgrave had the biggest jump of the day for the TexAnns, improving her score by nine strokes to move up 27 spots on the leaderboard. Hardgrave shot a 161 (+17) overall and placed 21st. Hardgrave had rounds of 85/76 and recorded 18 pars and three birdies – with all three coming in the final round.

Sophie Caldon tied for 24th with rounds of 81-82—163 (+19) while Breanna Smith tied for 40th with an 84-84—168 (+24).

Tarleton will play in the Mustang Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona on April 5-6.
