Stephenville’s district opener against Mineral Wells appeared to be a routine win for the Bees who led 6-1 after five innings of play before things got hairy. The Lady Rams rallied for six runs to tie the game before the Bees exploded for seven scores in a 13-7 win.
Bianka Garcia went the distance on the mound for the Bees as she scattered 10 hits and trusted in her defense to back her up. Garcia also struck out three batters and did not issue a walk.
Shortstop Madison Gilder started the flood of runs in the sixth inning when she bashed a bases-loaded triple to score three runs.
Katie McIrvin had the Bees’ hottest bat as she smacked four singles. Kaida Tomlinson (3) and Gilder (2) also had multiple hits.
