STEPHENVILLE – After pulling off a pair of national top-20 upsets last week, Tarleton has moved up 10 spots in the latest national poll by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and are now ranked No. 13 in the nation.
Tarleton’s rise from No. 23 to No. 13 in the poll is the second-biggest jump in the country behind only Washburn, who rose from No. 24 to No. 8. Tarleton has won three straight matches, including wins over then-No. 4 Hawaii Pacific and then-No. 18 Southwest Baptist in San Antonio last week.
In addition to the team ranking, the doubles pairing of Alicia Barbaroux and Neetika Sud are also nationally-ranked. The Tarleton tandem is ranked No. 43 in the country in doubles.
Tarleton will open Lone Star Conference play this weekend with home matches against UT Permian Basin at 2 p.m. on Friday and Western New Mexico at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Tarleton Athletics will give away 30 free T-shirts at Friday’s league opener.
