Tarleton’s rise from No. 23 to No. 13 in the poll is the second-biggest jump in the country behind only Washburn, who rose from No. 24 to No. 8. Tarleton has won three straight matches, including wins over then-No. 4 Hawaii Pacific and then-No. 18 Southwest Baptist in San Antonio last week.
In addition to the team ranking, the doubles pairing of Alicia Barbaroux and Neetika Sud are also nationally-ranked. The Tarleton tandem is ranked No. 43 in the country in doubles.
Tarleton will open Lone Star Conference play this weekend with home matches against UT Permian Basin at 2 p.m. on Friday and Western New Mexico at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Tarleton Athletics will give away 30 free T-shirts at Friday’s league opener.
