Tarleton Baseball returns home to open Lone Star Conference play against Cameron

Potential rain in Stephenville on the weekend has altered the series slightly, but Tarleton will indeed begin Lone Star Conference play with a four-game series against Cameron in Stephenville starting Friday afternoon. The Texans will start things off with a Friday doubleheader at 1 p.m. with another doubleheader scheduled for Saturday. In the event that Saturday’s games can’t be played, the doubleheader will move to Sunday afternoon.

Friday and Sunday are showing sunny days between 75 and 80 degrees, but Saturday has an 80-percent chance of rain in the area. If the weather affects game play, updates will be posted as they become available on the @TarletonSports twitter account and Facebook pages.

The Tarleton State Ticket Office is open from 1:30-4 p.m. in the main lobby of Wisdom Gym and can be reached by telephone at 254-968-1832. Tarleton won last Saturday’s road doubleheader at UT Permian Basin to split the final non-conference series of the season. The Texans were led offensively in the series by Jon Law and Colby Seltzer with .364 hitting clips. Seltzer drove in three RBI on the weekend, including the game-winning run with a bases-loaded hit by pitch in game two of the series.

Tarleton and Cameron have met on the baseball diamond 88 times since the inaugural meeting in 1995 and the Texans have won 58 times. Tarleton is 24-14 in the series in Stephenville and have won 12 of the last 14 overall meetings since 2017.

Tarleton will head south for a four-game conference series at Texas A&M-Kingsville, beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
