Jackets get back on track with 3-2 win against Godley

Derek Gifford overcame a shaky start to scatter six hits over five innings, and Daniel Luna drove in a pair of seventh-inning runs as Stephenville beat Godley 5-3 on the road Friday.
The win improves the Jackets record to 3-2 in District 7-4A but early on things looked bleak as the Wildcats got up on top 2-0 in the first inning when Gifford left a pitch hanging too long and it was poked over the fence.
To his credit, the senior shortstop/pitcher settled down as he struck out five batters and allowed two runs.

Luna, Caleb Smith, and Mason Castleberry relieved, and closed the game with Luna striking out two and Castleberry setting down three.
Tyeler Reed popped a triple and Luna had a double at the plate. Trace Morrison, Cody Storrs, Gifford, Gabe Moore, and Cade Dunavent all had singles.
The Jackets got two RBIs Luna and one each from Morrison, Reed and Trevor Easter.
