With two games remaining in District 7 4-A, Stephenville finds itself with the best overall record at 18-6, but the Yellow Jackets are currently setting in third in league play with a 3-3 mark.
It would be nice to say that the Yellow Jackets have had control of their own destiny but the jackets have lost two tight games were bad calls cost and runs.
Those loses came against Glen Rose, (5-4) there were three glaring errors and Friday against Brownwood (6-4) a missed tag at third base led the way to three runs for the Lions.
Coach Justin Swenson’s squad got a shot in the arm Friday with a 12-1 win against Ranger Junior College where the Jackets pounded out 13 hits, hit two home runs and starter Kendal Storrs struck out six batter over the five-inning contest.
Anthony Wehnert and Daniel Luna pounded the long shots while Trevor Easter and Mason Castleberry played hit-and-run ball with three pokes each.
Stephenville travels to Mineral Wells Tuesday and returns home for their final district (Senior Night) Friday for a 7 p.m. contest against Glen Rose.
