STEPHENVILLE — Ty Jones has been named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week after his performance against Eastern New Mexico last weekend.
Jones was spectacular for the Texans in Friday’s series opener at Eastern New Mexico. The junior right-hander set career highs in innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (8) while leading Tarleton to a much-needed victory over the Greyhounds and his first win as a Texan. Jones allowed just two hits in seven innings and three walks while holding the Hounds to a .091 batting average. It’s the first career LSC weekly award for Jones.
Jones and the Texans will close out the regular season at home against UT Permian Basin for senior weekend on May 3-5.
