The first-born child of A. E. Vineyard and Florence Gray Vineyard, she was born March 10, 1927. On December 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ottis Garland “Bill” Day in Comanche County.  For twenty-nine years Irene worked at Goldkist Peanut Company, until she retired in 1980.  For many years she worked part time at Johnson’s Florist, where she was a trusted and valued friend.  Irene was a faithful member of East Side Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents A.E. and Florence Vineyard; brother, Herman Gray Vineyard; and sisters, Faye Vineyard Polston, Joyce Vineyard Wright, and Mernell Vineyard Auvenshine.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie and Ronnie Rush of Stephenville and Randy and Paula Day of Comanche; grandchildren, Bradley Rush of Stephenville, Jennifer Day of Austin, Jared and Marlene Day of Albany, and Elayne Rush of Brooklyn, New York Morgan, Brook and Cayla are her great-granddaughters.

Her brother John has spent his life loving his sister and has never faltered in his devotion to her. His presence blesses us all.  Her Day and Vineyard nieces and nephews enriched her life beyond measure and they will continue to cherish her memory.  Our mom lived a life that showed God’s love and grace to those she encountered.

May we encourage all of us to honor her servant’s legacy by words of kindness and encouragement, and quiet acts of love. Peace.
