Carolyn Joyce Patterson Wooton of Hico, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 11, 2019 as she was surrounded by her family and others who loved her.

A private interment was held on August 14th at Morgan Mill Cemetery in Morgan Mill, Texas. She was laid to rest next to her late husband and high school sweetheart, Wayland Wooton. . Gary Wooton, of Morgan Mill, Texas officiated the meaningful service.

The eldest of three daughters, Carolyn was born to Hershel and Muriel Patterson on February 2, 1942 at the Stephenville Hospital. She attended Hico schools from first grade through graduation. Both she and Wayland were in Hico’s graduating Class of 1960. Following graduation, she studied business at Tarleton State University. On August 12, 1961 she married Wayland Wooton at the First United Methodist Church in Hico, Texas. Their journey together blessed them with two children and led them to Rainbow, Texas for almost two decades where they established and operated a heavy equipment sales business, C&W Equipment Sales, and a Mack Truck Dealership. In recent years, Carolyn served as the office manager of Martin Truck Enterprises of Boyd, Texas for 17 years until her retirement in 2017.

Throughout her life, one variable always remained constant: her commitment to Jesus Christ and His teachings and the love and adoration she had for her Lord and Savior.

She was a beloved wife, mother, Mocha (Mother Carolyn), Granny, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn leaves many loved ones behind including her son and daughter and their families: Paul and Elizabeth Wooton of Keller, Texas and their three sons: Austin Wooton of North Richland Hills, Troy Peyton, stationed in England, and Jared Peyton, a student at Texas Tech University; Angela and Brian Duffy of Austin and their daughter, Arden; two sisters, Barbara Drake-Henley and husband, Jimmy, of Saginaw and Sandra Polk and husband, Barry, of Hico; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Brown of Belton and Pat Erick and husband Larry of Midlothian; nephews and nieces and their families: Steven Erick of Grandview, Shane Drake of Granbury, Bret Polk of Hico and Craig Brown of Belton; Pam Drake-Tope of Saginaw and Lynn Polk-Hart of Hico.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Wooton of Jacksboro, Texas and her parents, Hershel and Muriel Patterson, as well as her in-laws, Buford and Alpha Wooton all of Hico, Texas.

A public memorial service celebrating Carolyn Wooton’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the United Methodist Church of Hico, Texas with a reception to follow in the Family Life Center.
