Roy B. ‘Buck’ Lawrence, born May 16, 1947 in Pasadena Texas to parents James R. ‘Boodie’ and Marie Lawrence passed way August 18,2019 in Temple, Texas. Buck was 72 years old, 3 months and 2 days. 

Buck graduated from Morgan High School in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart Janis Wester in 1967. Out of high school, he worked for El Colina Ranch in Walnut Springs showing Santa Gertrudis cattle and managed the Chalk Mountain location. After working on El Colina Ranch, Buck worked as a dairyman, farmer and construction worker by trade. 

Buck and Janis were blessed with 3 children, Tommy, Lynette and Nikki. His pride and joy was his family. Buck loved his family unconditionally and his grandkids and great grandkids brought him his greatest joy. Buck always enjoyed talking about cow prices, watching his kids and grandkids in anything they were involved in and he always enjoyed an old cowpoke story and lots of conversation. His favorite place in Hico was the Koffee Kup, sitting and talking with his coffee drinking friends and solving the world’s problems every afternoon. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and knew him. 

Buck is preceded in death by his parents, sister Will Ann Kash and brother in law Sam Kash, great-nephew Alexander Archard Kash and great-granddaughter Katelynn Willow Wishon. Buck is also preceded by special friends Dennis and LuLu Haden. 

Surviving Buck are his wife of 52 years Janis Wester Lawrence, three children Tommy D’Wayne Lawrence of Brownwood, Lynette Lawrence Johnson and husband Bradley of Hico and Nikki Janette Keller and husband Brandon of Hico. Buck is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nephews, a niece and a host of friends. 

A family visitation will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 4pm-6pm at Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico.
