Erath County Association of Retired School Employees (ECARSE) met at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at Graham Street Church of Christ Family Life Center for an ice cream social prior to their formal meeting. President Linda Doyle welcomed special guest speaker Representative J. D Sheffield who gave an update on the legislative session. He announced, with a big smile, that “the session turned our well for educators.” Other guest speakers included Dr. Janis Petronis, President of District XV TRTA, and Billy Jack Rankin, District XV Legislative Chair. They also spoke about the importance placed on education during the session and the successful outcome–13th check, making TRS pension fund actuarially sound, and possibility of future COLA increases. Speakers stressed the importance of thanking legislators for their hard work on behalf of current, future and retired educators.
