
SAN ANGELO – Tarleton’s seven-match win streak was snapped Friday night in a four-set loss at No. 14 Angelo State. The Texans will now head to Lubbock tomorrow for a 2 p.m. showdown with Lubbock Christian to close out the regular season.
After Tarleton suffered a 25-20 loss in the opening set, the Texans rallied in the second to even things up after two.
Tatyana Tuialii-Umi opened up the scoring with the first of four unanswered points to open the second set. The Rambelles clawed back to tie things up at 19-19 but a block from Amari Franklin and Sofia Tonga sparked Tarleton to a run of six straight points to close out a 25-19 win.
Angelo State went on to take the next two sets to clinch the match.
Tuialii-Umi led the team with nine kills while Adriana Darthuy (19), Kayla Brannon (17), and Tuialii-Umi (13) each had double-digit dig performances on defense. Brannon added 20 assists for the double-double.
Tarleton will play Lubbock Christian tomorrow at 2 p.m. to end the regular season.
