John Richard Webb passed from this earth from the Rehabilitation at Care Nursing in Brownwood, Texas, on December 9, 2019.

John was born to the late Richard and Thelma Webb, a home improvement contractor and home maker respectively, in Ralls, Texas on June 24, 1933.  He was immersed in community service and his Catholic faith which he shared with his wife Virginia who preceded him in death on October 5, 2015 and continued until his death.  John was raised in central and west Texas, traveling with his parents and graduating high school in Abilene and then enlisting in the US Navy.  He had an outstanding and demanding career in the Navy as Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator, serving on 11 different aircraft carriers, with over 200 successful launches and landings.  His career included several postings in the Pacific Fleet and the Atlantic Fleet.  His loving wife Virginia followed with their children to his duty stations in California, Florida and Rhode Island.  He retired from service after 22 years of honorable duty as a Chief Petty Officer and settled into Blanket Texas.

John then purchased the Grocery Store in Blanket, which was operated by him and his wife Virginia.  They both then immersed themselves into community service including Knights of Columbus, Catholic Church Youth Education, and many civic volunteer opportunities. They continued these callings when they settled into Proctor, Texas. They were active with teaching the youth at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Comanche, Texas, as well as Santa’s helpers and Comanche Cares.

John is survived by his brother Kenneth; his daughter Virginia with her husband Curtis, his sons Thomas, and John with his wife Lenore; his grandchildren Monica, CJ, Ginny Mary, John, Kourtney, Buster, Denea, Savannah, Eric, and Katy; his great-grandchildren Guy, Trentati, Zoe, Leo, Cotton, Reagan, Gavin, Landon, Kira, Scott, Addyson, Khloe, Serenity, Brian, Elvis, Maranda, Opal, Willow, Canaan, Jeffrey, EJ, and Levi.
