Women Ranked No. 11, Men No. 12 in USTFCCCA Regional Poll

STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton track and field programs were ranked in this week’s South Central Regional Poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The women sit at No. 11 with 75.06 points. UC-Colorado Springs of the RMAC earned the top spot with 463.87 points.

The men came in ranked at No. 12 with 108.39 points. UC-Colorado Springs of the RMAC also earned the top spot in the men’s poll with 306.30 points.

Tarleton officially opened up the 2020 season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic on January 17 & 18 with two first-place and 38 top-10 finishes.

Freshman Jenna Brazeal, sophomore Alan Palmer, and senior Michael Simcho broke the program records in their respective fields. Brazeal and Simcho each surpassed the program records in the 1000-meter races, while Palmer broke the program record in the long jump.

Palmer and senior Jasmine McQuirter hit NCAA provisional marks in the long jump during the event.

The Texans will head to Pittsburg, Kansas this Saturday to compete in the Pittsburg State Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The field events will begin at 11:00 a.m., while the running events will be split up into two sessions. The morning session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 3:30 p.m.
