Texan Golf ranked 13th in first NCAA West Regional Rankings

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton women’s golf is ranked 13th in the West Region for the NCAA’s first official Division II regional rankings of the season.

The Texans played in four tournaments in the fall, including a first-place finish at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate where they erased an 11-stroke deficit on the final day to with their first tournament of the 2019-20 season.

This is the first of three rankings before the regional field is selected, with the next regional rankings set to be released on March 27. The top 12 teams and top six individuals not on those teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the West Regional in Carlsbad, Calif., at The Club at La Costa on May 4-6.

Tarleton is one of six Lone Star Conference teams in the top 14 regionally-ranked teams, joining West Texas A&M (2), DBU (3), Midwestern State (5), St. Edward’s (6) and Texas A&M-Commerce (11). Cal State San Marcos is the top-ranked team in the West Region.

The Texans will open the 2020 spring schedule at the St. Edward’s Invitational played at the Onion Creek Club in Austin on February 24-25.
