Vaudiau remains unbeaten with match-clinching win over Northeastern State

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- Celia Vaudiau continued her early season dominance of collegiate tennis and the freshman remained undefeated in singles by winning the match-clinching point for the Texans over in-region rival Northeastern State Friday.

“Northeastern State competed hard but we kept our composure in the important moments. I am very happy with the win” said head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron. “We started very strong in doubles, which gave us the momentum going into singles. It was great to see them confident on the court.”

Tarleton (2-1) took the doubles point against the Riverhawks with wins in the No. 1 and 2 matches. Vaudiau and her doubles partner Nathalie Ulander earned a 6-4 victory in the top position while Faustine Palatte and Alicia Barbaroux won the No. 2 match 6-3 to secure the point.

Ulander and Palatte were the first Texans to complete singles actions and gave the Texans a commanding 3-0 lead in the match. Ulander won the No. 2 battle 6-1, 6-2 while Palatte handled the No. 4 position with a 6-3, 6-1 win. However, Northeastern State had an answer by finishing off the next three points in the No. 1, 5 and 6 positions to even the match at 3-3 and leave the final point in the battle of No. 3 players.

Vaudiau, a freshman from France, completed an intense tiebreaker to finish off a 6-2, 7-6 (8) win to remain undefeated on the young season. She is the only Texan without a blemish on her record through the first three matches.
