Margaret attended grade school at Salem Lutheran and Bauers Schools. She was a proud member of the first graduating twelfth grade class at Tomball High School, where she loved playing in the band.

Margaret married John A. Kitzmann on May 23, 1942 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cypress, Texas. They were married for 56 years, living many of those years on their acreage on Spring Cypress Road. Margaret and John traveled extensively from Albuquerque to New York during their marriage with his flight training and instructing duties with American Airlines. They later raised quarter horses, competing, winning, and placing in races throughout the Southwest.

She worked for 35 years with the family business, Kitzmann Chevrolet, in Cypress as the accountant and cashier.

Margaret moved to Stephenville in November 2009. She has nieces and nephews, including Greg Thompson and wife, Phyllis, who live in Bluff Dale; Linda (Thompson) Schellenberg and husband, Steve, who live in Georgetown, Texas; Clayton Kitzmann and wife, Janice, who live in Burton, Texas.

Margaret’s hobbies included traveling (she has been on every continent in the world except the South Pole!), gardening and growing flowers, as well as cooking and entertaining with dinners and celebrations for family and friends. Many a BBQ cookout was enjoyed at the Kitzmann’s!
